Instructor Bio: Our wine teacher began working with wine at the age of 18 in Australia, his birth country. Being raised in New Zealand, however, Ash attended college at the University of Otago where he sold wine in a retail environment part time. Following several years in the beer and wine business in New Zealand, Ash traveled to Illinois to attend Masters classes at the University of Illinois Springfield campus in 1994. Completion of his classwork saw him managing a wine store in Springfield before moving in to wine distribution and working for a wine import company. In 2008, he returned to New Zealand as Marketing & Sales Director of a small winery in Central Otago before returning to Central Illinois in 2016. Ash has more than 30 years experience working with wine and has studied with The Institute of Masters of Wine, a London based internationally recognized organization. He hopes to earn the organizations qualification before he leaves this world.
